The Federal government requires all heating equipment to carry an efficiency rating. The higher the rating the more efficient the model. Gas furnaces are rated with AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency). We will be happy to help you compare ratings and make recommendations.
Air Conditioning

In January 2006, the Department of Energy increased the minimum efficiency of HVAC units from 10 to 13 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) The highest rating in the equipment we carry is 20 SEER. If your home was built prior to Jan of 2006 the chances are that you have a 10 SEER unit. As a unit ages it becomes less efficient.
